Are you a writer wanting to submit your work to magazines and journals but don’t know where to find them? Look no further
Swim Press submissions are currently closed as we are compiling our first issue and finalising our designs. In the meantime, before we open submissions for any future issues, here is a list of many other mags who are open to submissions and would love to receive your writing.
Second Chance Lit
If your work has been previously rejected from other presses or magazines, here is your second chance. Second Chance Lit is accepting prose and poetry under 1,000 words.
Submissions deadline: 22nd September
Skirting Around Magazine
Submissions for their second issue are now open! Their theme for this issue is: Undercover operation. You have complete freedom with how you interpret this theme. Guidelines for prose, poetry and art are on their website.
Submissions deadline: 1st October
Stratum Press

Accepting both poetry and flash fiction, Stratum Press is calling for submissions without a theme which allows you to be completely free and creative with your writing. They particularly love “the experimental.”
Chestnut Review
With submissions open all year round, Chestnut Review is looking for writing for their quarterly issue.
Submissions deadline: 30th September (for their winter issue released in January)
Sledgehammer Lit
With no theme attached, Sledgehammer is accepting general submissions in poetry and flash fiction. Indulge in complete creative freedom. Their motto is: “Throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks”.
Mini Skirt Mag
The love and romance lit mag, Mini Skirt Mag, is accepting submissions of poetry, prose and art for their seventh issue.
Deadline: 25th September
Fawn Press

Calling all poets! Fawn Press is looking for poetry submissions with the theme: “Elements: The Natural & Supernatural”. Their website says: “Submissions should be inspired by any of the elements, be that earth, air, fire and water, or indeed the magical and spiritual elements.”
Submissions deadline: 31st October
Zin Daily Literary Magazine
Accepting submissions year-round, Zin Daily Literary Magazine “are searching for work that will illuminate and instigate societal and individual change”.
Dead Skunk Mag
Submissions for their first issue have come to a close but luckily they have opened submissions for their second issue! Their website says: “Ultimately, we’re interested in captivating writing that galvanizes the imagination”.

Catchwater Magazine

For the month of September, Catchwater Magazine are accepting submissions with the theme “Superstition”. This is their third issue and their goal is “to showcase as much creativity as possible”.
Submissions deadline: 30th September
With Confetti
Now on their second issue, With Confetti are asking for submissions from LGBTQIA+ writers with the theme: The Thrilling & Chilling! They accept poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and art in any genre.
Submissions deadline: 13th October
Hecate Magazine
Hecate Magazine has said to submit “your bile, your bitter, your heartbreaks to DECAY in time for our HALLOWEEN RELEASE. it’s going to be a monster. SEND US YOUR WORST RIGHT NOW”.

Superfroot

There’s not long left to submit to Superfroot’s next issue. With the theme “Nostalgia”, they accept poetry, prose, artwork and photography.
Submissions deadline: 15th September
Alebrijes Review
Hurry up, not long left to submit to Alebriges Review’s first issue themed “Fever dream”. Their website says they only accept “poetry/fiction/art submissions from Latino/a/x creatives”.
