to submit your work to swim press, please send an email to with the subject line "swim press submission"

please include in the body of the email: your full name, email address, a brief description of your work, why you think it fits the theme, as well as a word count.

please include an author bio of up to 100 words and in 3rd person. include preferred pronouns and social media handles, etc.

we accept written submissions in the form of docx. and pdf. and photography submissions in the form of pdf. and jpeg.

our guidelines.

we accept written submissions from new and emerging writers, by which we mean writers with a maximum of 5 publications under their belt. We accept written submissions in the forms of poetry, flash fiction, and short fiction.

poetry: 2-5 poems per author

flash fiction: 1-4 pieces with a max. word count of 600 words per piece

short story: 2 pieces of short fiction with a max. word count of 2000 words per piece.

works exceeding the max. word count will not be accepted.

for photography we accept up to 10 of your own photographs.

we accept work from everyone, though do keep in mind that women+ voices will be prioritised.

we will accept previously published material so long as it only featured on a personal blog or social media page. anything that has been previously published elsewhere will not be accepted.

we accept simultaneous submissions, however you must let us know asap if your piece has been accepted elsewhere.

unfortunately we are not able to provide payment to our contributors at this time, but we hope to be able to in the future.

please allow us up to a month to respond after the submission deadline before giving us a nudge. Although, we'll try to respond within a week.

if you are accepted into the issue please wait in between issues to submit again. If you are declined, feel free to submit again, but please keep in mind that contributors will be limited to one submission per issue.

rights: by submitting to us, if accepted, you grant us first electronic rights and non-exclusive archival rights. all submissions remain the intellectual property of the artist. Rights revert to the author upon publication.

racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, graphic, abusive, and overly lewd content is NOT welcome at swim press.
