to submit your work to swim press, please send an email to submit.swimpress@gmail.com with the subject line "swim press submission"
please include in the body of the email: your full name and/or pen name, email address, a brief description of your work, why you think it fits the theme (either sink or swim as these themes will be split in the published issue), as well as a word count.
we accept written submissions in the form of docx. and photography/art submissions in the form of pdf. and jpeg.
all work must follow the guidelines detailed below.

our guidelines.
any submission that does not adhere to our guidelines will not be considered for publication.
we accept written submissions from new and emerging writers, by which we mean writers with a maximum of 7 previous publications. We accept written submissions in the forms of poetry, flash fiction, short fiction, and non-fiction.
poetry: 1-5 poems per author
flash fiction: 1-4 pieces with a max. word count of 600 words per piece
short story: 2 pieces of short fiction with a max. word count of 2000 words per piece.
non-fiction: 2 pieces of non-fiction with max. word count of 2000 words per piece.
works exceeding the max. word count will not be accepted.
for photography we accept up to 10 of your own photographs.
for artwork we accept up to 10 pieces of your original artwork
we accept work from everyone, though do keep in mind that women+ voices will be prioritised.
we will accept previously published material so long as it is only featured on a personal blog or social media page. any work previously published in a professional capacity will not be accepted.
we accept simultaneous submissions, however you must let us know asap if your piece has been accepted elsewhere.
racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, graphic, abusive, and overly lewd content is NOT welcome at swim press.

unfortunately we are not able to provide payment to our contributors at this time, but we hope to be able to in the future.
please allow us up to a month to respond after the submission deadline before giving us a nudge.
rights: by submitting to us, if accepted, you grant us first electronic rights and non-exclusive archival rights. all submissions remain the intellectual property of the artist. rights revert back to the author upon publication.
